Listen to the Toyota GR GT’s throaty exhaust sound
The Toyota GR GT was unveiled recently. While it’s being touted as a successor to the Lexus LFA, it doesn’t have the glorious V10 engine that made the LFA so special. That being said, the new twin-turbo V8 does promise decent performance, and here’s a video of what it sounds like.
The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 powering the GR GT is paired with a single electric motor. The combined output of the hybrid powertrain is said to be more than 640 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, which allows the car to reach a top speed of over 200 mph.
The GR GT is based on an all-aluminium chassis, featuring a rear-wheel-drive layout with a transaxle at the back. The suspension setup comprises double wishbones with coil springs all around, while brakes come in the form of carbon ceramic discs.
