Ex-Brunei McLaren F1 sells for $25.3 million at auction
The RM Sotheby’s Abu Dhabi auction had multiple blue-chip supercars on offer this year, including the Pagani Zonda Riviera, which went for over $10 million. But it was not the most expensive car there.
That honour went to the McLaren F1, of course. This special supercar, once owned by the Sultan of Brunei, was sold for $25.3 million.

Out of the 64 road-spec McLaren F1s produced, this particular example is chassis no. 14. It was delivered new to the Brunei royal garage. Originally finished in Titanium Yellow over black, the car was rebuilt in 2007 to its current specification.
This McLaren F1 is fitted with the High-Downforce Kit and LM-spec interior. The exterior is finished in plain white and has black OZ Racing centre-locking wheels. The odometer currently shows 13,711 miles. It’s also the last of only eight F1s to receive the HDK treatment.
